What is Pink salmon?
Karafuto-masu refers to pink salmon ( Oncorhynchus gorbuscha ), also known as humpback salmon. When it is distributed as fresh fish, it is sometimes referred to as aomasu (blue trout). Another name is sepparimasu (セッパリマス). In addition, in some areas of Hokkaido, it is called by the brand name "Okhotsk salmon" (オホーツクサーモン). Pink salmon is the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon.
