Study guide

How to study this N5 kanji list

Start with everyday words and short sentences. Recognising a character in a word is more useful than memorising all its possible readings at once.

  1. Cover the meanings with the recall toggle and try to read a small group of characters.
  2. Open a character, choose one example word, and check its reading and meaning. Use audio where a play button is available.
  3. Review the words you missed, then return to the list and recall them without the hints.
