墳 (tomb, mound)

直径ちょっけい23m(下段げだん)及および18m(上段じょうだん)、高たかさ5ｍの二に段式だんしきの円えん墳ふんである。

It is a two level style round burial mound, 23m diameter (lower level), 18m (higher).

現在、古墳一帯は国営飛鳥歴史公園の一部として整備が進められている。

At the present time, the whole area around the tumulus is being developed as a part of the Asuka Historical National Government Park.

また、巣山古墳については、何か伝承を聞いていたのであろうか、「おのれいささか考え出でたることあり」と皇陵として被葬者の心当たりがある旨を書いている。

Regarding the Suyama-kofun Tumulus, his script that reads 'I have come up with a theory' suggests that he might have heard of a tradition indicative of the entombed that makes the tomb an Imperial mausoleum.
