和語わご (wago)

日本にっぽんで生うまれた言葉ことばを和語わごといいます。

Native Japanese words are called "wago."

なお「将軍」の和語での訓は「いくさのかみ」である。

Note that the native Japanese reading of "shogun" is "ikusa-no-kami."

和語では「ひつぎのみこのみめ（日嗣の御子の御女）」という。

In Wago (words of Japanese origin), they were called 'Hitsuginomikonomime'.

なお“枉死”は、『後漢書』天文志下などにも、その用法があり、和語で言われる「横様の死」は、横死の訓読語になる。

The term "oshi" (unnatural death) is also used in, for example, the Treatise on Astronomy in the History of the Later Han, and "yokosama no shi" in native Japanese is the kun reading of "oshi" (unnatural death).

また、和語通音を絶賛していた本居宣長からは、垂加神道に基づく古典の解釈がこじつけが多く非学問的だと批判されている。

In addition, Norinaga MOTOORI, who gave wago tsuon the highest praise, criticized that his theories were not academic, because there were a lot of strained interpretations about classics based on Suika Shinto.

.中世には現在の日本語の書き言葉の原型となる和漢混淆文が成立し、日本語は漢語と和語を織り交ぜた自在な表現力を得た。

In medieval times, a mixture of Japanese and Chinese writing, which became the basis of today's written Japanese language, was established, giving Japanese flexible powers of expression with its mix of kango (words of Chinese origin) and Wago (words of Japanese origin).

一方、和語「かんざし」はそもそも「髪挿し」に由来するとされ、上古の人々が神を招く際に頭に飾る草花が起源であったという。

Meanwhile, in the Japanese language 'kanzashi' was derived from 'kamisashi' (hair insert) and its origin is believed to be flowering plants by which people of ancient times decorated their heads when they invited the deities.

このように、元来、和語（大和言葉）の「こと」という言葉は、現在の和琴の元となった弥生時代以来の「こと」から発している。

Thus, the word "koto" in native Japanese originally derives from the "koto" that has existed since the Yayoi period and became the origin of the present wagon.

日本文化を特徴的に示す概念として、「和（わ）」という言葉がしばしば用いられる（例：和語、和文、和歌、和服、和食、和風旅館など）。

As a concept distinctively indicating the Japanese culture, the term 'Wa' is often used (e.g. Wago (words of Japanese origin), Wabun (Japanese text), Waka (a traditional Japanese poem of thirty-one syllables), Wafuku (traditional Japanese clothes), Washoku (Japanese food), Wafu-ryokan (Japanese hotel), etc.)
