Frequently asked questions

How does the daily study schedule work?

Each level's schedule walks the complete JLPT lists for that level, every word, kanji and grammar point on this site, in study order. You get one day's worth at a time as a short list, with a link to the full page for each item.

You pick how long the level should take and the daily numbers come from that, so words, kanji and grammar all finish on the same day.

What happens if I miss a day?

New items wait for you. Days advance when you finish them, not by the calendar, so a week away leaves your schedule exactly where you left it.

Reviews are the exception. They come due on real dates and stack up until you clear them, the same way an Anki backlog does.

How do reviews work?

Every item has two buttons: done if you know it, or remind me in 1 to 35 days. A reminded item comes back on the day you picked, with its button now reading due now.

Recalled it? Give it a longer gap. Know it cold? Mark it done and it stops coming back. Nothing clears a whole list at once, so the pile stays an honest picture of what you owe.

Can I change my pace later?

Any time. Set your own words, kanji and grammar numbers and the finish date recomputes from them. The slowest section decides when you finish.

Can I study more than one level at once?

One schedule runs at a time. Starting a level stops the one you had running, and everything you marked on it, every status and review date, is kept. It is all on your progress page, and you can switch back whenever you like.

Does it work with the flashcard decks?

Yes. With a schedule running, the Anki-style decks introduce new cards from that day's slice, so the two never disagree. Items marked here and cards graded there both fill in the same effort grid, one square per day.

Do I need an account?

Only to run a daily schedule, because a schedule runs for weeks and has to survive a cleared cache or a new phone. It is free, you can use Google, Apple or an email address and password, and it is used for nothing but carrying your own progress between your devices.

Everything else on this site is open without one: every word, kanji, grammar point, past paper and reading passage. Browsing progress you mark without an account stays saved in your browser, as it always has.
