Meaning
衣笠丼 (きぬがさどん[?] きぬがさどんぶり, Kinugasa-don) is Kinugasa-don — a Japanese food (rice dishes, tofu dishes).
What is Kinugasa-don?
Kinugasadon is a donburi rice dish, topped with fried tofu, green onion, and cooked with lightly beaten egg. The contents are the same as the "fox bowl", kitsune-don ( きつね丼). Kinugasa-don is derived from the legend of Kinugasa-yama near Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion) in Kita Ward. In the Heian Period, Emperor Uda had the mountain covered with white silk to make it look like a snowcapped mountain, and enjoyed the winter scenery in summer. It is said that kinugasa-don was named because the eggs on top of the rice look like that legendary scene.
