旁つくり (tsukuri)

We learnt about how the Chinese characters were formed today.

『清少納言旁註』『枕草紙拾穂抄』とも。

The book is also called "Sei Shonagon Bochu" (Marginal Notes on Sei Shonagon) or "Makura no Soshi Shuhosho" (The Commentary on The Pillow Book).

猿楽は本来神楽だから、神の字の旁を用いて申楽と書くのが正しいと解説している。

In this book, the author explained that

三世紀の音符は【旁】にあり【壹】の旁は【豆】となっている事から、登あるいは澄と同様に「と」と発音されていたものと思われる。

The body of Chinese characters assumes the reading in the 3rd century, so it was apparent that '

東寺の夜叉：東寺にあった金剛夜叉明王、聖天・だ吉尼天（「だ」は咤の旁から宀を除いた字、荼枳尼天と同じ、だきにてん）・弁才天の三面六臂像。

The To-ji Temple's Yasha (a demon): Kongo yasha myoo was owned by the To-ji Temple, and it was a statue of Sanmen roppi (three faces and six arms and standing on a lotus with one leg raised) whose three faces are Seiten, Dakichiten, Benzaiten (a Buddhist goddess of music, learning, eloquence, wealth, longevity, and protection from natural disasters).2007

年のマンション建設に伴う遺構調査では、本能寺の変において焼けたと思われる瓦や、「能」の旁が「去」となる異体字がデザインされた丸瓦が、堀跡のヘドロの中から見つかっている。

Excavations accompanying the construction of an apartment building in 2007 unearthed from sludge what is thought to be a tile burnt in the Incident at Honno-ji and a concave roof tile featuring a variant of the 'no' kanji character.

また良実の子二条道良が死去したのが、二条富小路殿であったことも『経光卿記』正元(日本)元年11月8日条の死去記事（「今暁（二条道良）令薨去給云々、坐二条富小路亭、已為陣中、旁無便宜」）に明記されている。

It is also known that Michinaga NIJO, the son of Yoshizane, died at Nijo Tomikojidono residence according to the entry which records his death on December 29, 1259 in "Tsunemitsukyo-ki" (The Record of Lord Tsunemitsu) ('Today at dawn, Michinaga Nijo was said to have passed away at the Nijo Tomikoji residence; as I could not be there as I was taken in a battle').

壹' was pronounced 'to' as well as 登 or 澄 because the body of '壹' is '豆.'旁（つくり；漢字の右半分）は「羽」と「隹」（ふるとり）から成り、高く抜きんでた雉（キジ）の尾。

Its tsukuri (right half of a character) is made up with '

羽' (hane, feather) and '隹' (tori, bird) and means the outstanding tail of a 雉 (kiji, pheasant).『枕草紙旁註』（まくらのそうしぼうちゅう）は、江戸時代に著された『枕草子』の注釈書。

"Makura no Soshi Bochu" is a book written in the Edo Period, which is a collection of marginal notes on "Makura no Soshi" (the Pillow Book).

申楽 should be used for Sarugaku because it was basically Kagura (神楽, or sacred music), and therefore the right portion of the Chinese character 神 should be used.また、三条西家の六国史書写の段階でも、善本が入手できず、また、旁書などを本文に反映させた際、誤脱、錯簡などが生じ、現行の刊本もその影響を受けている。

Furthermore, as the complete text was not available when the Six National Histories were transcribed by the Sanjonishi family, and commentaries and other writings were sometimes incorporated into the text which had pages out of order due to binding errors, many mistakes and omissions were made that are still present in the current printed editions.
