鹿ケ谷かぼちゃは、一般の南瓜と比べて、栄養価が高いのが特徴の瓢箪に似た形状の南瓜である。

Shishigata pumpkin is characterized by being more nutritious compared to ordinary pumpkins, and it looks like gourd.

硬く大きな不定形で不安定な食材、例えば南瓜等を切断するのに、比較的小さなもので、補助具も必要とせず切れる包丁を提供する。

To provide a relatively small kitchen knife which can cut a hard and large food material having an unstable shape such as a pumpkin, without requiring any auxiliary tool.

鹿ヶ谷南瓜は、昔から京都では、「おかぼ」と呼ばれていて、文化(元号)年間（1804～1818)の頃、東山(京都府)の百姓が、津軽に旅をした時、南瓜を持ち帰り、鹿ケ谷に住む他の百姓にその南瓜をやった所、百姓達は早速、自分の畑に植えて、栽培したのが始まりと云われる。

Shishigatani pumpkin has long been called 'okabo' in Kyoto; during the Bunka era (1804 - 1818), a farmer in Higashiyama (in Kyoto Prefecture) made a trip to Tsugaru (name of a region in eastern Aomori Prefecture) and brought back pumpkins with him and gave them to other farmers in Shishigatani; the farmers planted the pumpkins in their fields right away and this is said to be the start of their cultivation.

これは例えば牛の生育時に与える牧畜用飼料の生産装置１であって、牧草が有するビタミンＡ換算値よりも多くのビタミンＡ換算値を有する人参又は南瓜をカットする大量処理スライサー４と、カットした人参又は南瓜を乾燥させる温風乾燥機５と、乾燥させた人参又は南瓜を牧草に混合等して牛に与えることで、牛の育成時におけるビタミンＡ不足を解消することができる。
