けれど (keredo)

貧乏びんぼうだけれども、彼かれは嘘うそをつくようなことはしない。

Though he is very poor, he is above telling a lie.

貧しかったけれども、彼は人から金を借りなかった。

Poor as he was, he did not borrow money from others.

当然ですが先生は英仏語とも理解できますけれど。

Obviously the teacher can understand both English and French.

眠かったけれども、宿題を終わらすことができた。
