もがく (mogaku)

彼かれは 痛いたみに 苦くるしみもがいている

He struggled with pain and suffering.

君も私も学生だ。

Both you and I are students.

They are both school children.

彼女はどう見ても学者である。

To all appearances, she is a man of learning.

暗黒の中でもがく赤い斑点として。

a wriggling red spot in the blackness.

彼女かのじょは 立たちあがろうと、もがいた。

She struggled to get up.

地下鉄ちかてつから 出でるのに 私わたしはもがいた。

I struggled to get out of the subway.

ライオンはオリから 出でようともがいた。

The lion struggled to get out of his cage.

その 動物どうぶつは 檻おりから 出でようともがいた。

The animal struggled to get out of the cage.

少年しょうねんは 警察官けいさつかんからのがれようとしてもがいた。

The little boy struggled to free himself from the policeman.

そして 今夜こにゃ、 彼女かのじょがアメリカで100 年ねんにわたって 見みてきた 全すべてのものについて 考かんがえています。

悲嘆ひたんや 希望きぼう、もがきや 前進ぜんしん、 出来できやしないと 言いわれた 回数かいすう、そしてあのアメリカ 的てき 信条しんじょうを 掲かかげて 前進ぜんしんした 人々ひとびと、そう 我々われわれはできる、という。
