逆に introduces a result or situation that flips what came before, often against expectation or intention, while むしろ picks one option over another to express preference or judgment. You can swap them only when the context is about choosing between two alternatives; 逆に is wrong for simple preference statements like むしろ寮で本を読んでいる方がましだ, and むしろ is unnatural for a converse outcome like 緊張しすぎるとだめ、逆にリラックスしすぎてもだめ.
- 逆に Use 逆に when a new situation or result runs contrary to what was just stated or expected.
