むしろ (mushiro)

Meaning & usage

むしろ means that the second of two options or descriptions is the more accurate or preferred one, often after よりも or よりは. It can also start a sentence that corrects or contrasts with what was just said. It works with plain-form verbs, i-adjectives, and nouns, and is common in both spoken and written Japanese.
