の下で (no de)

の下で marks the place or framework in which an action happens, either a physical space beneath an object like 木の下で or an abstract authority or condition like 彼女の下で. It attaches to a noun with の, forming noun + の下で, followed by an action verb. Use で rather than に because it highlights where something is done, not only where something exists.
