お下さい (o sai)

Meaning & usage

お～ください makes a courteous request meaning kindly please do something, used when addressing customers, superiors, or people you do not know well. It attaches お to the masu stem of a Group 1, 2, or irregular verb before ください, as in お座りください, お話しください, and お許しください, with suru verbs appearing as お plus noun plus ください like お電話ください. It elevates the listener action, so it cannot request your own action and it sounds too formal for close friends and family.
