Meaning & usage
それは can work as an emphatic adverb that points at nothing and simply means truly or so very, as in それは美しかった. It is often doubled as それはそれは or extended as それはもう, and in a reply それはもう on its own means oh, absolutely. It comes before an adjective or a whole description, and it sounds conversational and a little old-fashioned. Do not confuse it with the ordinary それは, that is, which refers to something.
