ほど (hodo)

Meaning & usage

ほど expresses parallel increase: as one thing changes, another changes in step, as in 勉強すればするほど. It also appears in patterns like ～ほど～はない, meaning nothing surpasses that thing. It follows plain-form verbs (often the conditional ば form repeated), and nouns.
