である (dearu)

Meaning & usage

Used after the te-form of a verb, this pattern describes a state that exists because someone has deliberately done something, as in 選んである or 書き込んである. The action's actor is usually not mentioned; the sentence focuses on the resulting condition. It commonly appears in both plain and polite speech.
