それが (sorega)

それが works as a standalone demonstrative referring back to something already mentioned, often introducing a result or comment that runs against what was expected, as when saying nothing ends up making someone angry. It can also soften an unpleasant remark, similar to saying "I'm sorry to say." It stands on its own rather than attaching to another word.
