こうした (koushita)

Meaning & usage

こうした means this kind of or such and points back to a type of thing already described or clear from context. It is a pre-noun modifier used as こうした + noun phrase, so an adjective may still come before the noun, as in こうした古い規則. It sounds neutral to formal and is common in explanations, news, and academic writing.
