向け (ke)

Meaning & usage

向け marks the audience a product, service, or content is designed for, like children, beginners, or foreign residents. It follows a noun referring to that group, as in 子供向け or 外国人向け. It is used as 向けだ at the end of a sentence, 向けの before a noun, and 向けに before a verb describing creation or adjustment. Avoid using it with adjectives to describe quality; it describes the target, not how good something is.
