為（に）・ため（に） (ni tame ni)

Meaning & usage

ため（に） expresses purpose or benefit, meaning in order to do something or for the sake of someone or something. It follows the dictionary form or ない-form of a verb, as in 見るため or 忘れないために, and follows nouns with の, as in 健康のため or あなたのために. The main clause must describe a deliberate action under the speaker's control, so it cannot end in a state or uncontrollable event.
