風に (ni)

Meaning & usage

風に, read ふうに, describes doing something in a particular manner, style, or likeness, often translated as like that or in that way. It follows demonstratives such as こんな, そんな, あんな, and どんな, as in そんな風に話す, or a noun plus 風, as in 日本風に, and the whole phrase modifies the verb that comes after it. It is common in everyday conversation for commenting on how someone speaks, thinks, or behaves.
