仮に (ni)

Meaning & usage

仮に introduces a hypothetical situation for the sake of discussion, meaning assuming that or even supposing. It is an adverb placed at the start of the sentence and does not conjugate or attach to a specific word type. It is normally followed by a conditional clause with たら, としたら, としても, とすれば, or なら, and often pairs with もし for emphasis.
