Meaning & usage
Rhetorical questions use question form to make a strong denial or rejection, meaning something like no way or as if. The endings ものか and its casual form もんか follow the plain form of verbs, adjectives, and nouns, as in 会うもんか or 守るものか. The ending たまるか follows only the te-form of verbs, as in 行ってたまるか, and 何が pairs with noun + だ to dismiss a claim.
