に/ともなると (ni tomonaruto)

Meaning & usage

に/ともなると is used to say that once a situation reaches a certain stage or level, a particular result naturally follows. It attaches to a noun, with ともなると being a slightly more emphatic variant of にともなると. It carries a conditional nuance, close to saying "if" or "when it comes to" something.
