Meaning & usage
は言うまでもなく marks something as obvious in order to add something further, often more surprising, expressed with も in the main clause. It follows a noun directly as in 英語は言うまでもなく, and the following clause usually ends with も plus an affirmative or negative predicate. In negative sentences it gives a let alone reading, where the first noun is even less possible than the second.
