Meaning & usage
のこと follows a noun to mean about, regarding, or concerning that noun, often with verbs and adjectives of feeling, thought, or knowledge such as 好きだ, 心配だ, 考える, or 知っている. It attaches as Noun + のこと, as in あなたのこと or 母の体のこと, and the whole phrase is then marked with particles like が or を. It is especially common with people to signal personal concern or emotional involvement, and in this use こと is normally written in hiragana.
