Meaning & usage
のことだから expresses an expectation or judgment based on what the speaker knows about someone's personality or habits. It follows a noun referring to a familiar person, as in 田中さんのことだから or 母のことだから, and the main clause states the likely outcome. It is common in conversation with conjectures using だろう, はずだ, or きっと, and it should not be used for strangers or first impressions.
