のはのことだ turns a clause into a cleft sentence, highlighting when or that something happened or holds true. A clause in plain form takes の as the subject, followed by は, then a noun like 当たり前, 当然, or a time expression, plus のことだ. It often pairs with words expressing naturalness or a specific time.
