に限って (ni tte)

Meaning & usage

に限って attaches to a noun or a plain-form clause and marks the only case or time in which something holds, singling it out from everything else. It often follows time expressions or groups of people, as in ご婦人に限って, and carries a slightly emphatic tone of 'particularly then'.
