限りだ (rida)

Meaning & usage

限りだ expresses that a personal feeling reaches an extreme degree, often translated as extremely or truly. It attaches directly to i-adjectives expressing emotion, as in 嬉しい限りです or 申し訳ない限りです, and to the stem of na-adjectives with な. It is formal and polite in tone, and it describes the speaker's own feeling rather than an objective situation.
