Meaning & usage
となると singles out one topic or situation for special comment, with the sense of when it comes to that matter. It is often used to give an evaluation or result that differs from the general situation, as in スキーとなると or 作るとなると. It follows a noun, often expanded as のこととなると or の話となると, or a verb in the dictionary form. The following clause states what holds true in that particular case.
