Meaning & usage
だけに means precisely because of the stated reason, the resulting feeling or situation is even stronger or more natural. It is used when the outcome is an intensified evaluation or expected consequence, as in 期待していただけに or プロだけに. It follows plain forms of verbs and adjectives and nouns, with な kept for na-adjectives and nouns taking だけに directly, and it differs from から in that it cannot state a neutral cause without that sense of all the more.
