Meaning & usage
ぬ is a classical negative that replaces ない in written or literary Japanese. It attaches directly to the imperfective (nai) form of verbs, as in 見知らぬ or 負けぬ, and appears in set expressions like 思わぬ. It sounds formal and is mostly found in writing.
