Meaning & usage
のみならず adds a second item to a first item to show that both are true, with emphasis on the addition. It attaches to a noun as in 英語のみならず, and to a na-adjective or noun predicate with である as in 有名であるのみならず. The following clause often contains も to mark the added element. It is formal and common in writing, more stiff than だけでなく.
