ならない (naranai)

Meaning & usage

ならない appears in the patterns なければならない and ねばならない, following the negative plain form of a verb (言わ, 書か, 調べ, やってしまわ). It expresses that an action is required, often with a deadline or necessity, and ねばならない is a somewhat stiffer variant.
