ものではない (monodehanai)

Meaning & usage

ものではない follows a plain-form verb (or a noun plus な) to state that something is not the kind of thing that can or should be done, often with a general, advisory tone. It literally negates もの, so it frames the action as inherently unsuitable, as in saying English cannot be mastered overnight.
