Meaning & usage

思うに introduces the speaker's considered opinion or judgment, meaning in my view or I think. It is a fixed adverbial form placed on its own at the beginning of a sentence, normally followed by a comma as in 思うに、. It belongs to formal written and spoken style for essays, speeches, or reasoned argument, so it sounds unnatural for casual daily remarks or for neutral factual predictions without personal evaluation.
