といえども (toiedomo)

Meaning & usage

といえども expresses that even a person or thing of a certain status is no exception, meaning even though it is that case. It attaches directly to a noun, as in 子供といえども or 先生といえども, and to a na-adjective stem with である, as in 健康であるといえども. It is formal written language and is not used with verbs, i-adjectives, or time expressions.
