Meaning & usage
いかに is a formal adverb meaning 'how' or 'to what extent'. It appears in written or formal sentences, often inside embedded questions with か, as in いかに〜か, and in the fixed pattern いかにして meaning 'by what means, how'. It can also modify adjectives, as in いかにせまいか, to ask or state the degree of something.
