及び (bi)

および connects two or more nouns with the meaning and or as well as, as in ドア及び窓. It is placed between nouns and is often written in hiragana in modern documents, though the kanji form appears in laws and formal notices. It is reserved for formal writing such as contracts, manuals, and announcements, so と or や sounds more natural in conversation.
