およそ (oyoso)

およそ is an adverb meaning roughly or approximately, placed directly before numbers, quantities, or fractions to indicate an estimate, as in およそ４５００種 or およそ３分の２. It is used in written and formal contexts and needs no special conjugation of the surrounding sentence.
