Meaning & usage
っぽい adds the meaning of -ish or having the look or feel of something, often based on impression rather than fact. It attaches to nouns as in 子供っぽい and to the stem of i-adjectives as in 安っぽい or 黒っぽい. As an i-adjective itself, it conjugates like っぽくない or っぽかった. It is common in casual speech and often sounds critical when describing people.
