Meaning & usage
にして connects two nouns to show that one person or thing holds both roles at the same time, as in 医師にして作家. It follows a noun directly, with the pattern Noun A にして Noun B, and the second noun is often followed by も, でもある, or として. It is formal and written in tone, common in profiles, introductions, and official descriptions.
