にいたっては (niitatteha)

Meaning & usage

にいたっては singles out one item as the most extreme case among several, meaning when it comes to that item or even that item. It is used with both unfavorable and favorable or neutral situations to emphasize how far the situation goes. It follows a noun directly, as in 卵にいたっては or 新入社員にいたっては, often written に至っては, and appears in formal written Japanese.

   Prices are rising overall, and eggs have reached twice last year's price.

   Prices are going up, and rice has even doubled in price.
