にかかわらず・に関/拘/係わらず (nikakawarazu ni warazu)

にかかわらず expresses that a result holds without being affected by differences in the preceding condition, meaning regardless of or no matter whether. It follows a noun such as 年齢にかかわらず, a paired contrast such as 晴雨にかかわらず, noun + のいかんにかかわらず such as 天候のいかんにかかわらず, or a verb or adjective plus かどうか such as 来るかどうか. It is formal written style and requires a noun based condition rather than a pair of opposite verbs joined with と.
