とあっては (toatteha)

Meaning & usage

とあっては presents a special circumstance as the reason for an inevitable conclusion or action, often with a nuance of "if that's the case, then it can't be helped" or "there's no choice but to." It attaches to plain-form verbs, i-adjectives, na-adjectives plus だ, and nouns, including noun phrases like 方針 or すぐ後.
