Meaning & usage
ども is a classical conjunction meaning that even though something is the case, the expected result does not follow. It most often appears in the fixed pattern といえども after a noun, meaning even that person or thing is no exception. It can also follow verb forms as in 聞けども, and the whole expression has a literary, old-fashioned tone.
