なぜか (nazeka)

Meaning & usage

なぜか is an adverb meaning for some reason or somehow, used when the speaker notices a result or feeling but cannot explain why. It stands alone at the start or middle of a clause and modifies the whole predicate, so no special conjugation is needed before verbs, adjectives, or nouns with だ. It is neutral in register and common in both speech and writing. Do not confuse it with a question using なぜ, since なぜか here does not ask for a reason.
