ほど (hodo)

Meaning & usage

ほど expresses degree or extent, often in comparisons like Xほど...はない (nothing is as... as X) or with verbs in the pattern ...ば...ほど (the more... the more...). It also appears in questions like どれほど and in phrases meaning not as much as something appears. It follows nouns, verbs, and quantity expressions.
